Goat Sucker - The Chupacabra
Roughly translated Chupacabra means Goat Sucker! Growing up in a hispanic family the legend of the Goat Sucker (Chupacabra) was used to scare us into coming inside when it got dark, along with tons of other scary legends. It's hard to believe I didn't grow up having more random fears than just clowns.
Goat Sucker - The Chupacabra Hisory
Some of you may know that the Legend of this insane beast started somewhere in Latin America. The actual place of origin is a constant debate. Although I don't know who would actually be arguing this fact and what their profession would be called, I'm sure all sides would put up a good fight. What I do know is that the actual craze began back in the 1970's when large crops of animals suddenly turned up dead or missing. Reports state that some animals even had two puncture wounds on or around the neck and were drained of blood and sometimes organs. The size of the animal would range from a small dog to a large horse!

Goat Sucker - Chupacabra: What is it?
The video above, I don't think, represents what the Chupacabra may look like. Tellers of the legend say it stands erect on it's hind legs with two upper apendages armed with sharp claws. It is a furry creature with an elongated snout and possibly a tail for balance and, of course, sharp fangs. It was believed that the Goat Sucker would emit a toxin that was used to paralyze it's victim and soften the insides to be sucked out easily. Think of a poison spider-type attack. It also let out a blood curdling howl to warn other predators of it's territory, which I believed was right outside my window late at night.
I sure do love my parents...
Goat Sucker - Chupacabra
In closing, I would like to thank the media for resurfacing the fears it took the last ten years of my life to supress. When the reports of La Llorona (Banshee) arise, another horror story of a woman who drowned her children in a body of water and was cursed to walk the bottom of the canal right behind my childhood home waiting for unsuspecting children to drag down into the watery abbys, I just don't know what I'm going to do with myself.
